1.Do not use incinerator for burning garbage, oily and sewage sludge in ports/harbours/estuaries
2.No waste oil burning to be performed in boilers at ports /harbours/estuaries
3.the following items prohibited to burn in incinerator:

  • 1) Annex I, II and II cargo residues of the present convention
  • 2) Contaminated packing materials
  • 3) Polychlorinated biphenyls (pcbs)
  • 4) Garbage, as defined in Annex V of the present convention, containing more than traces of heavy metals refined petroleum products, containing halogen compounds

For vessels incinerators designed below 850 C: incineration of polyvinyl chlorides (pvcs) shall be prohibited in the incinerator.

For vessels incinerators designed above 850 C with IMO approval certificate:

  • 1) Incineration of solid waste containing approximately 20% plastics is allowed only with personnel responsible for the operation of the incinerator and monitoring the combustion flue gas temperature at all times.

  • 2) Continuous feed is not allowed when incinerator temperature is below allowed temperature of 850 C.
