Answer:
  1. It is unnecessary to switch to Light Oil for auxiliary machinery (i.e. A/E, Boiler) when vessels need to anchor at the Pacific or Atlantic Anchorages or berth prior to transit. However, for the Main Engine, it is necessary to switch to Light Oil before entering Panama Canal Waters.
  2. In the above situation, vessels shall change over to Light Oil for the auxiliary machinery at least 2 hours prior to the scheduled P.O.B. for her Canal transit
  3. It is not necessary to switch to Light Oil for all machinery (including Main Engine), for vessels that arrive at Canal waters with the sole intention of visiting either the Pacific or Atlantic port terminals or anchor at the Pacific or Atlantic Anchorages and will not transit.
  4. All vessels that arrive with the intention of transiting, shall record the fuel changeover in their engine room logbook and/or fuel oil changeover logbook.
