Gas carriers, such as LPG and LNG carriers, are fitted with a deck water spray system for the following reasons:

  • to provide protection against fire
  • to cooling in the event of a fire in the cargo area
  • to cool down cargo tanks during the voyage (if required)
  • to flush the cargo spill overboard and protect the crew in case of a cargo spill incident.
