  1. The watchman (motorman or engineer) should fill the sump to normal operating level
  2. Immediately inform the engineer on watch and Chief Engineer.
  3. Start a standby diesel generator, put online and shift to it the load from the diesel generator with missing oil.
  4. Stop the diesel generator, investigate and rectify the cause of losing oil (leaking piping, shaft seals, turbocharger, purifier etc).
