In order to ensure that adequate steam flow is maintained through the superheater in the event of boiler overpressure, the superheater safety valve lift pressure should be less than the lift pressure of the main steam drum safety valves.

All safety valve tested and their lift pressure normally set during the docking. The job should be carried out by certified professionals using properly calibrated equipment. Ship's crew allowed to alter the boiler/superheater safety valves settings in case of emergency only.
