I have checked the oil viscosity in an auxiliary engine with the viscosity test kit. The test showed the viscosity of Aux. Engine oil is low. What is the correct course of actions?

Answer:

When LO is contaminated with DO, it's viscosity drops.

  1. Clean the sump and LO system and change the oil.
  2. Identify the source of LO contamination. Often, it is a leaking fuel injection pump or injector.
  3. Replace the faulty part.
