This regulation requires that all refrigeration gases with a Global Warming Potential (GWP) > 2500 shall be phased out. Pashe out started in 2014 and from 1st January 2020 such gases will not be supplied in Europe Union. IMO is expected to follow starting from 2022.
Currently, many ship owners and operators are actively verifying their ships for the usages of subject refrigerants. If such gases are still utilized in any (mostly old) equipment, the proper replacement should be timely supplied.
