During his round, a SIRE inspector recorded observation for slight signs of paint on the rope, which secures the pilot ladder. A few days ago deck crew was painting the deck and, probably, touched the rope with a brush. Is it a reasonable observation?
The paint weakens the rope because reduces the flexibility of rope fibers.
All ropes should be maintained in good condition. No paint or grease is allowed to be on the rope.
The observation is totally legitimate.
