The primary duty of any cadet on board is to study. As a future Third officer, you have to learn from Officers and Ratings as much as possible. Focus your effort on:
- Bridge watchkeeping
- Daily reporting
- Third officer duties
- Route planning
- Mooring operations
- Cargo operations
- Deck rover watch during cargo operation
- Gangway watch
- Company SMS
Usually, deck cadets are assigned by Chief Mate to give hand to Officers and Rating at various tasks, as required. Carry out any assignment with due diligence. Make notes. Keep filling your Cadet training book regularly. Do not hesitate to ask crew members any questions you get.
