The temperature control system of the crankshaft bearings of the main engine indicates high temperature. What would be the correct action? |
Stop the engine immediately and keep the Lub Oil pump running for at least 20 minutes before opening the crankcase. After 20 minutes open the crankcase and investigate crankshaft bearings for signs of overheating and damage. Look for discoloration, metal particles. If bearing has failed, it's shells must be replaced and journals polished. Lubrication pipes should be checked for free flow of LO. If no abnormalities found, check the sensor which showed high temperature with calibration tool. At any time, this alarm should be taken very seriously. |
