During routine checking of an engine following the start up it is discovered that the start air pipe leading to one of the cylinders starting valve is hotter than normal.

What is the likely caused of this?

Starting valve is stuck in partially open position. Exhaust gases are blowing into the starting air pipe and warm it up.

The valve must be replaced / overhauled asap.
