Vessel is experiencing starting problems due to sticking Automatic main starting valve.

As per the manual, this valve supposed to be maintenance-free. Very slight trace of rust deposition found around the actuator gland. No repair kit also available onboard.

What can be done to ensure troublefree starting prior to contacting the maker?

Lubricate the valve spindle and the actuator spindle from outside, ease up the valve by operating it manually with a manual handle.

Check Main Starting bottles for moisture accumulation. Ensure proper draining of the same. A mix of moisture with lubricating oil in the compressed air system may lead to sticking air valves.
