Method (1) Empty salt water side, open inspection doors on both sides, place light polythene over the tube plates and create a vacuum. Ssuction of the polythene will indicate the defective tube.
Method (2) If (1) fails, chock up the condenser, fill the steam side with water to the top of the tube, next add ½ kg of fluoresceine powder to the water (assuming there is 10 tons of water). By shining ultraviolet light on the seawater side of the tube plate, the leak can be located visually by bright green drips.
