Answer:

On signing on always check and set date and time to UTC unless synchronized with the GPS.

Conduct the following tests and maintenance:

Monthly:

  • Overboard pipe internal visual inspection supported by date stamped photographs uploaded into PMS
  • Operational test
  • 15ppm alarm
  • 3-way valve operation (if fitted)
  • Confirm seals fitted in accordance with seal register

Yearly:

  • Change batteries if fitted
  • Internal inspection
  • Filter / coalescer cleaning

Five Yearly:

  • Shore calibration or sensor change

The Oil Content meter must be calibrated every 5 years or as per manufacturer’s instructions, whichever is earlier. The calibration must be carried out by the manufacturer or persons authorized by the manufacturer. Keep the calibration certificates within the ships certificate file.
