  • Observed condition of old piston rings (freeness, carbon deposition, breakages etc.)
  • Old piston rings radial thickness
  • Piston rings groove clearance with new rings
  • Maker’s allowance for maximum limit for piston rings groove clearance
  • Piston rings butt clearance with new rings
  • Maker’s allowance for maximum limit for piston rings butt clearance
  • Piston crown and skirt bolts – whether renewed

Cylinder Liners

  • Observed condition of the cylinder liners (surface condition, damages, scuffing etc.)
  • Liner diameter at positions along liner length (Fwd-Aft and Port-Stbd directions)

  • Inlet & Exhaust Valve guide clearance
  • Inlet & Exhaust Valve stem dimensions
  • Maker’s allowance for maximum limit for Inlet & Exhaust Valves clearance
  • Maker’s allowance for minimum limit for Inlet & Exhaust Valves stem dimensions
  • Inlet & Exhaust Valve seat dimensions / calibrations
  • Maker’s allowance for the limits for Inlet & Exhaust Valve dimensions / calibrations

Piston Pin (Gudgeon Pin)

  • Piston pin clearance (Fwd & Aft)
  • Maker’s allowance for maximum limit for piston pin clearance

  • Running hours of the connecting rod
  • Whether connecting rod is re-conditioned?
  • Observed condition of CR (bottom end bearing housing, serrations, threaded holes, trunk)
  • Connecting rod bottom end bore measurements (Fwd & Aft) across different angles (diametrically)
  • Connecting rod ovality
  • Maker’s allowance for maximum limit for connecting rod bottom end bore ovality
  • Crankpin diameter (in Top-Bottom & Port-Stbd directions) along the length of the crankpin
  • Crankpin ovality
  • Maker’s allowance for maximum limit for connecting rod bottom end bore ovality
  • Bottom end bearing (Crankpin bearing) clearance
  • Maker’s allowance for maximum limit for bottom end bearing clearance
