Electrical Engineer (ETO or Electrician) reports to the Chief Engineer and is responsible for testing and maintenance of ship electrical equipment, particularly:

1) compliance with safety regulations and the implementation of safe working practices
2) correct use and storage of tools and spares
3) maintenance of power generation & distribution and lighting networks
4) testing and maintenance of automatic telephone exchange
5) main switchboard and distribution switchboards
6) electric motors
7) generators including EDG
8) batteries
9) emergency lighting
10) periodic testing and maintenance of automation, control and alarm systems
11) maintaining the communications, radio and electronic equipment
12) any other duties as requested by the Chief Engineer
