How to quickly check for operation of refrigeration compressor suction/delivery valves without disassembling of cylinder covers?

  1. Check suction and discharge pressure to be in normal operational range. Typically increase of suction and decrease of discharge pressure is a sign of internal leakage through valves.
  2. Check for abnormal sound from cylinder heads.
  3. Check cylinder heads temperatures by laser gauge. If valves fail temperature rises above 100 deg C.
  4. Check el. motor current to be at normal level for certain load. Decrease of working current may be due to failed valves.
