Hey colleagues. Please help with the fuel leakage on Wartsila L20 fuel pumps. After bunkering of new fuel (Singapore) fuel pumps started spraying shortly from fuel rack. Firstly happened from one cylinder and spreaded on all others after some time.
Similar issue happened to both our Wartsila 8L20 engines after fuel change (MDO). Technician team opened and measured all fuel injection pumps on one engine and measured plunger/barrels. Technicians boss requested plunger/barrels pairs replacement. Replacement done on one engine but after some time spraying from fuel rack appeared again. Finally after next bunkering with different fuel leakage stopped on both engines even on non-overhauled fuel pumps. Conclusion is bad fuel can cause internal leakage due to below standard specs.
