Answer:

Following items are to be considered while operating and servicing Cummins engines:

  • Correct lubrication oil replacement intervals according to your model manual (250 hours, 500 hours etc.)
  • Attention to water pump impellers condition, possible corrosion. Keep spare impeller and seal
  • Engine CAN network must be maintained properly, no extra non-design plugs or jumpers allowed
  • Periodical inspection and retightening of el. terminals and connections
  • ECM related problems possible. Should keep spare ECM onboard
  • Governor linkages are subject to wear. Broken linkages issues know as well
