If excessive water accumulation is found in an air compressor receiver, what could be the possible cause?
Note that ambient air contains some water vapor and it get condensed after compressed air cooled. If air dryer installed it will remove most of moisture from compressed air. If no air dryer in the system then accumulation of minor water amount in normal and it should be drainer from receiver. However if significant water collection observed an investigation to be conducted.
Below are possible failures which could lead to accumulation of water in receiver.
- Leak in head gasket if water cooled
- Cracked cylinder head
- Condensation caused by to cool of water
- Leaking after cooler.
