All the personal Oxygen monitors provided onboard have an alarm setting function for safety level. The safety level of Oxygen setting will activate an alarm, triggering early warning.
The safety level allows sufficient time for the person to evacuate the space before the Oxygen content depletes to dangerous levels. Upon hearing the audible alarm the person, must leave the space immediately and proceed to an open space with Oxygen content is 20.8%.

Only the Chief Officer is authorised to set the Safety level on the Personal Oxygen Monitor and he must periodically verify the safety levels on the monitor are not altered.
