In case oil can not be transferred for storage in tanks or enclosed compartment it is advised to keep drums on their side avoiding direct contact with deck i.e. on wooden or plastic pallets. This will prevent dirt and water from accumulation on top and therefore possible contamination. Drum body corrosion will be minimal with such arrangement as well.
