Opposite of absorption or adsorption. In filtration, it relates to the downstream release of particles previously retained by the filter.

FILTER UNLOADING
The release of contaminant that was initially captured by the filter medium.

FOREIGN TRADE ZONE
Known in some countries as a free zone, a foreign trade zone (FTZ) is a site within the USA (in or near a U.S. Customs port of entry) where foreign and domestic goods are held until they ready to be released into international commerce. If the final product is imported into the U.S., duties and taxes are not due until the goods are release into the U.S. market. Merchandise may enter a FTZ without a formal Customs entry or the payment of Customs duties or government excise taxes. In the zone, goods may

DIAPHONE
A sound signal emitter operating on the principle of periodic release of compressed air controlled by the reciprocating motion of a piston operated by compressed air. The diaphone usually emits a powerful sound of low pitch which often concludes with a brief sound of lowered pitch called the GRUNT. The emitted signal of a TWO-TONE DIAPHONE consists of two tones of different pitch, in which case the second tone is of lower pitch.

HIGHER HEATING VALUE
HHV, the theoretical heat the combustion process can release if the fuel and oxidant are converted with 100% efficiency to CO2 and liquid H20.
|
LOWER HEATING VALUE
LHV, The theoretical heat the combustion process can release if the fuel and oxidant are converted to 100% efficiency to CO2 and H2O vapor.
|
THERMO ACOUSTICAL EFFICIENCY
Equal to the sound power level/heat release. A value used to characterize the amount of combustion noise emitted from a flame. Defined as the ratio of the acoustical power emitted from the flame to the total heat release of the flame. Approximately equal to 1 X 10-6 for premixed and turbulent flames and equal to 1 X 10-9 for diffusion and laminar flames.
|
BURNER CAPACITY
Amount of heat release a burner can deliver (i.e., amount of fuel which can be completely burned through a burner) at a given set of operating conditions.
|
RELEASE
A device for holding or releasing a mechanism, particularly the device by which the tangent screw of a sextant is engaged or disengaged from the limb.
