A steam cycle in which steam is drawn from the turbine at one or more stages and used to heat the feedwater. Also known as regenerative cycle.

The principle that for any system executing a cyclical process, the integral over the cycle of the infinitesimal amount of heat transferred to the system divided by its temperature is equal to or less than zero. Also known as Clausius theorem; inequality of Clausius.

CLAUSIUS STATEMENT

A formulation of the second law of thermodynamics, stating it is not possible that, at the end of a cycle of changes, heat has been transferred from a colder to a hotter body without producing some other effect.

SIMPLE CYCLE

Referring to the gas turbine cycle consisting only of compression, combustion and expansion.
