PLANET CARRIER

SLINGER RING

A ring of leather or rubber placed around the pump shaft in back of the stuffing box. Used to protect the bearings from water leakage out of the stuffing box.

RADIAL-FLOW TURBINE

In a radial-flow turbine, steam flows outward from the shaft to the casing. The unit is usually a reaction unit, having both fixed and moving blades.
