The error that occurs during a mass determination with a digital analytical balance when a value is read, printed, or processed before the display has reached its final position.

Related Terms

CORNERLOAD TEST

A test to determine whether the display of an analytical balance is affected by the load distribution on the weighing pan.

MACROANALYTICAL BALANCE

A relatively large type of analytical balance that can weigh loads of up to 200 grams to the nearest 0.1 milligram.

ANALYTICAL BALANCE

A balance with a sensitivity of 0.10.01 milligram.

ANIMAL BALANCE

A balance designed to weigh living animals, with a readout or display relatively unaffected by the pulse or movements of the animal.

DIAL WEIGHT

A weight piece that acts on the invariable arm of an analytical balance and is added or removed from outside the case by a weight-lifting dialing system.

MOBILITY

The ability of an analytical balance to react to small load changes; affected by friction and degree of looseness in the balance components.

BALLISTIC DEFLECTION ERROR

A temporary oscillatory error of a gyrocompass introduced when the north-south component of the speed changes, as by speed or course change. An accelerating force acts upon the compass, causing a surge of mercury from one part of the system to another in the case of the non pendulous compass, or a deflection (along the meridian) of a mass in the case of a pendulous compass. In either case, a precessing force introduces a temporary ballistic deflection error in the reading of the compass unless it is corrected

RASTER SCAN

A type of radar display whose picture is produced as a digital analysis of contacts by the activation of pixels.

XTE

Cross Track Error
