Low-temperature evaporator which uses a fan to force air rapidly over the evaporator surface.

Related Terms

BLOWER

A fan used to force air under pressure.

BOTTOMAIR DELIVERY

A type of air circulation in a temperature control container. Air is pulled by a fan from the top of the container, passed through the evaporator coil for cooling, and then forced through the space under the load and up through the cargo. This type of air ow provides even temperatures.

GRAVITY TYPE FURNACE

A furnace where the heated air is circulated through the system by the force of gravity.

FORCED AIR TYPE FURNACE

A furnace that uses a fan to circulate the air in the system.

DIRECT REFRIGERATION SYSTEM

A system in which the evaporator is either in direct contact with the material space to be refrigerated or located in the air circulating passages leading to the material space.

ATTIC VENTILATOR

A mechanical fan located in the attic space of a residence; usually moves large quantities of air at a relatively low velocity.

BUBBLE TEST

Measurement of the largest opening in the mesh of a filter screen; determined by the pressure needed to force air or gas through the screen while it is submerged in a liquid.

TOPAIR DELIVERY

A type of air circulation in a container. In top air units, air is drawn from the bottom of the container, ltered through the evaporator for cooling and then forced through the ducted passages along the top of the container. This type of air ow requires a special loading pattern.

FAN

A machine consisting of a rotor and housing for moving air or gases at relatively low-pressure differentials.

AIR-SLIDE CONVEYOR

An air-activated gravity-type conveyor, of the Fuller Company, using low-pressure air to aerate or fluidize pulverized material to a degree which will permit it to flow on a slight incline by the force of gravity.
