A cooler which consists of set of U-tubes expanded into tube plate and inserted in casing with inlet and outlet of cooling medium. Suitable for higher pressures than plain tube coolers. Self compensating for thermal expansion. Efficient due to large number small diameter tubes. Failed tubes may be plugged. Disadvantages are: more expensive than plain tube and difficult to clean.
